As wintry weather caused slicked roads Monday morning, some major area roadways dealt with crashes that slowed the commute including a 10-vehicle wreck on Interstate 295 in New Jersey.
As many as 10 vehicles crashed around 9:25 a.m. on I-295 southbound near Exit 56 - U.S. 206 in Bordentown, Burlington County dispatchers said.
NJDOT warned drivers to avoid the area and plan alternate routes as the scene was cleared. By 10:30 a.m., one lane got by the scene.
No serious injuries were reported. County dispatchers said the crash was definitely weather related.
Earlier, a crash closed lanes on Interstate 95 in Northeast Philadelphia. The multi-vehicle crash caused a big backup northbound at Cottman Avenue after 7 a.m., NBC10 First Alert Traffic reporter Jessica Boyington said.
A lane remained closed as of 7:45. The damage was done as a long backup remained. Traffic finally started moving again after 8 a.m.

Around 7:45 a.m., a tractor-trailer hauling an excavator overturned on the New Jersey Turnpike near milepost 47.7 in Bordentown, New Jersey State Police said.
No one was seriously hurt in the crash but traffic backed up for hours as state police intermittently closed the roadway.
The snow/wintry mix worsened the turnpike, police said. Troopers responded to more than 20 weather-related crashes on the turnpike Monday morning, police said.
Weather-related speed restrictions were put in place.
