Inmate Dies Of Stabbing In Northwest Pennsylvania Prison

Authorities say an inmate has died of injuries he sustained when he was stabbed during an inmate-on-inmate assault at a prison in northwestern Pennsylvania.

The Pennsylvania Department of Corrections said Monday that 33-year-old Job Daniel Knighton of Erie was stabbed Feb. 10 with a homemade weapon at the State Correctional Institution at Albion in Erie County.

Knighton was rushed to the hospital, but was pronounced dead shortly before noon Sunday at UPMC Hamot.

Officials said Knighton was serving a sentence imposed in 2004 of more than 34 years, nine months, to 70 years in a rape in Erie County. He had been at SCI-Albion since December 2013.
