An inmate at a northwestern Pennsylvania prison has been ordered to stand trial on charges that he killed another by slamming him to the ground and stomping on his head.
The Erie Times-News reports 26-year-old Trevon Coleman was ordered to stand trial on criminal homicide and other charges after Tuesday's preliminary hearing.
State police say he stabbed 33-year-old Job Knighton of Erie on Feb. 10 with a homemade weapon at the State Correctional Institution at Albion. Police say Coleman then "body-slammed the victim head-first into a concrete floor and stomped on his face."
Knighton died at a hospital five days later.
The hearing was delayed several times because Coleman's attorney says he was delusional. An Erie County judge ruled Coleman was mentally competent earlier this month.
