Indoor Skydiving Facility Opens in King of Prussia

IFly, a company that operates indoor skydiving facilities, has opened its 50th location in King of Prussia, Pa., adding to a mix of new experiential entertainment that is coming into the market.

The company is based in Austin, Texas, and was formed as SkyVenture in 1998. It opened its first indoor skydiving facility in 1999, rebranded as iFly and began opening sites throughout North America.

In the Philadelphia area, iFly is shopping for two other possible locations, said Michael Salove of MSC Retail, which represents the company in its search for new sites. Among the areas it would consider are South Jersey, northern Delaware and maybe even in and around the sports complex in South Philadelphia.

The King of Prussia location was selected because of its road network and because it's considered a “super regional destination,” Salove said. “They don’t go into a market and put in a dozen locations but pick select areas and pull from a huge geography. The road network and visibility was ideal for us.”
