Wildwood's iconic 17-foot-tall welcome sign is getting a makeover.
Starting Monday, the letters spelling out "Wildwoods" at the end of Rio Grande Avenue will be taken down in stages to be refinished. The silver letters superimposed on blue letters have been subjected to corrosive salt air since they were installed in 2008.
The logo will remain throughout the project as the foreground letters will be taken down first, followed by the background letters.
Breaking news and the stories that matter to your neighborhood.
The entire project is expected to take two weeks to complete.
The sign welcomes visitors to the resort town, along with giant, concrete beach balls.
