I-295 southbound in East Greenwhich Township, NJ is closed Thursday morning following an early morning accident involving a tanker truck that injured five people.
The four vehicle crash happened around 4:30. Chopper 10 footage shows a car is underneath an overturned tractor trailer.
Officials tell NBC Philadelphia that the tanker is leaking asphalt.
Southbound lanes between exits 16A and 16B were completely closed for most of the morning. The left lane on the northbound side was also closed for some time. Motorists were encouraged to use the NJ Turnpike as an alternate.
The conditions of the victims taken to area hospitals remain unknown.
