HQ for Philly Inquirer, Daily News for Sale

The building that houses Philadelphia's two major daily newspapers is up for sale again

The 18-floor building that houses the newsrooms of The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News on Broad Street just north of City Hall is up for bid along with a 500-space parking garage nearby. Bidding is open until the afternoon of June 27.

The papers' former owner put the building up for sale in 2007 and found a buyer but the sale never closed. The papers emerged from bankruptcy eight months ago under new ownership.

Philadelphia Media Network Publisher Greg Osberg says a significant portion of the 526,000-square-foot building isn't being used. There is no set asking price. Osberg says the building will be sold only if it draws an attractive bid.
