Workers Escape Injury as Houses Collapse in South Philly

No reports of injuries when Mercy Street homes collapse

Two vacant row homes under construction collapsed Tuesday afternoon in South Philadelphia.

The properties along Mercy Street, near South 7th and Snyder streets, were being worked on when they collapsed around 12:10 p.m., Philadelphia police said.

All the workers safely escaped the collapse, police said.

PECO, PGW and Licenses and Inspections responded to the collapse site.

The cause of the collapse is being investigated.
