‘Hot Wheels’ List Breaks Down Tri-State’s Top Stolen Vehicles

The National Insurance Crime Bureau released its annual report of the Top 10 Vehicle Make/Model Thefts. This year's report showed a lot of similarities within the Tri-State area. However, there were some significant differences as well depending on which state you come from.

The National Insurance Crime Bureau released its "Hot Wheels" report of the Most Stolen Cars in America and a pair of Honda models appeared atop the list for Delaware, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

The Honda Accord came in at #1 for not only each of the tri-state lists but also nationwide. As the only model with over 50,000 thefts nationwide, Accord owners should be extra cautious about protecting their vehicles.

The Honda Civic finished second on the Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware lists and second nationwide. With over 49,000 nationwide thefts, the Civic stands over 17,000 models higher than the next vehicle in reported thefts,

The Ford Pickups were third in reported thefts in both Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Although falling in at #6 in Delaware, the model comes in at third in the U.S and remains a target for car thieves in our area.

Coming in at #4 for Delaware and Pennsylvania, the Nissan Altima is not only popular among car owners but also for thieves as well. The model was listed at #5 in New Jersey.

Rounding out Pennsylvania's Top 5 was the Toyota Camry. However it varied in the tri-state area from #3 in Delaware to #8 in New Jersey.

The Dodge Caravan appeared fourth on New Jersey's list but did not make the top 10 of Delaware, Pennsylvania, or the U.S lists.

Rounding out Delaware's Top 5, the Jeep Grand Cherokee is among the hot wheels list of thieves everywhere. At 7th in New Jersey and 8th in Pennsylvania, Cherokee owners should be alert for possible theft attempts.
