Pennsylvania Home Break-in Ends in Death, 3 Teens Charged

Three teens were jailed in a home robbery plot that police said turned deadly when their 43-year-old accomplice, the father of one of the teens, was shot by the eastern Pennsylvania homeowner.

Berks County District Attorney John Adams said the suspects conspired to rob 50-year-old Andre Vermet at his Earl Township home on Sunday night.

But the DA said Vermet killed 43-year-old Robert Stoudt, after Stoudt approached Vermet with a stun gun while wearing a ski mask outside the home. Vermet won't be charged because he was defending himself.

Stoudt's 16-year-old son and a 17-year-old girl have been charged in juvenile court so their names haven't been released.

A third suspect, 18-year-old Breyah Staude, of Boyertown, is in the county jail on robbery, conspiracy and related charges.

Court records don't list a defense attorney.
