Hit-and-Run Driver Sentenced

The man who admitted to hitting a 16-year-old girl with his car and leaving her to die was sentenced to 24 to 60 months in prison.

Lemuel Payne told a judge in June that he hit Ridley High School honor student Faith Sinclair last August as she was crossing the street with her friends.

Police found Payne’s black Mercedes hidden under a blanket in his Upper Darby garage four days after the fatal accident.

Family members of Sinclair spoke out at the sentencing hearing Monday, expressing their sorrow and pain.

Payne’s lawyers said that he’ll likely spend two years in jail.
