Hearing Scheduled for Mother-Daughter Team Who Contributed to Teen Death: Police

Police said a woman and her daughter illegally sold prescription anti-anxiety medication to a western Pennsylvania high school football player hours before he overdosed on that mediation and heroin.

Defense attorneys for 41-year-old Daniel Hrelec and 20-year-old Brandi Spohn didn't immediately return calls Friday.

They each face a preliminary hearing April 2 on one count of possession with intent to deliver Xanax. The drug is legal, but selling it to someone without a prescription is not. Police said the women sold 17 pills to 17-year-old Dominick Treemarchi on Dec. 6.

He died about 1 a.m. Dec. 7, a few days before he was to play for Central Valley High School in the PIAA Class AAA football championship game.

Four teens who were with Treemarchi face charges for not helping him, two each in adult and juvenile court.
