Man Gets Life Sentence for Attacking Girlfriend With Hammer

A man has been given a life sentence for hitting his girlfriend in the head with a hammer in Delaware.

The News Journal of Wilmington reports that 37-year-old Daniel Eyster hit the victim during an argument in September 2015, causing a serious head injury that required several surgeries.

The Delaware Department of Justice says Eyster was convicted of attempted murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony in June by a Kent County jury.

Eyster faced a minimum mandatory sentence of 17 years in prison for the crime, but Judge Jeffrey Clark recently imposed a life sentence. [[238427591, C]]
