Gunman Robs Rite Aid, Carjacks Priest in Haddonfield

Police are searching for a man accused of robbing a Rite Aid and then carjacking a priest in Haddonfield, New Jersey.

The armed suspect entered the Rite Aid on the 700 block of Haddon Avenue at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The man jumped over the pharmacy counter, took out a handgun and demanded Adderall and Oxycodone from the store employee, according to officials. He then took an undisclosed amount of Adderall pill bottles and ran into the parking lot where he carjacked a priest, officials said.

The suspect drove the priest’s vehicle for about a block, exited the vehicle and then fled the scene on foot. No one was injured during the incident.

Haddonfield Police, the Camden County Sheriff’s K9 unit and other neighboring agencies searched the area. Two area schools, the Tatem School and Christ the King, were briefly locked down as a precaution. Officials did not locate the man however.

The suspect is described as a man standing 6-feet and weighing 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing a long yellow rain jacket, yellow reflective hat, hooded sweatshirt, black mask and white hardhat. Police also say he was carrying an orange traffic cone during the robbery.

Detectives believe the same man also robbed another Rite Aid in Logan Township, Gloucester County back on May 22.
