Two women, including one who is pregnant, were shot by a gunman in North Philadelphia Wednesday night.

The women were in the backseat of car along with an infant and a man who was driving near 2nd and Ontario streets when a gunman opened fire around 10 p.m. At least 16 bullets were fired into the vehicle, police said.

The two women were injured.

The driver wasn't struck by any bullets and was able to drive away from the scene, police said.

The 25-year-old pregnant woman was being treated for a gunshot wound to her arm. The other woman, who is 27, was shot multiple times, police said. Both were listed in stable condition.

The infant wasn't hurt.

The women were possibly in the area to pick up some belongings, police said.

The women could know who the gunman is and police said they believe they know who pulled the trigger.

Police hoped that surveillance video could help in their investigation.
