Authorities say a man was shot to death and a woman was wounded when someone opened fire on a vehicle parked on a Newark street.
Essex County prosecutors say the shooting occurred around 7:20 a.m. Tuesday on Tillinghast street. They say 29-year-old city resident Carl Talbert, and a 35-year-old woman were sitting in the vehicle when the shooting ocurred.
Talbert was pronounced dead a short time later, while the woman was being treated at a hospital for wounds that were not considered life-threatening.
A motive for the shooting remains under investigation. No arrests have been made, and no other injuries were reported.
The shooting is being investigated by Newark police and the county's Homicide/Major Crimes task force.
