Gun Goes Off During Home Invasion

Delaware State Police say a handgun was fired during a home invasion when an intruder hit a resident in the head with the weapon.

It happened about 1:15 a.m. Monday in a home near Dover. Troopers say three masked men, one with a handgun, forced their way into the home and confronted a resident. Police say during a struggle, the armed suspect hit the victim in the head with the handgun, causing it to discharge into the ceiling. No one was hit.

The three suspects ran away without getting anything. The resident was treated and released at a local hospital.
