Gun Goes Off in Delaware Middle School Restroom

Police say a gun was fired in the restroom of a middle school in Delaware, but no one was injured and two students are in custody.

A police news release says officers were called to Central Middle School in Dover about 12:15 p.m. Tuesday. Investigators say one student brought a gun to the school and may have given it to another student. Police did not describe the gun.

Officers say a student took the gun into a restroom and it fired; police don't know whether the weapon was fired intentionally or by accident. Authorities say the incident was not related to a bomb threat made toward the school earlier Tuesday.

The school was put on lockdown. The school's website says classes have resumed, but after-school and evening activities are cancelled.
