Governor Christie Meets With Families of Fallen Soldiers

Gov. Chris Christie greeted troops and the families of fallen soldiers during the annual military review ceremony staged by the New Jersey National Guard.

The governor saluted nearly 400 troops who lined up in formation Sunday on the parade field at the guard's training center in Sea Girt. NJ.com reports a military Hummer drove Christie around the field for the review of troops, and he was presented with an engraved howitzer shell casing.

While detailing programs for veterans in the state, Christie reinforced his commitment to veterans returning home from duty.

Brig. Gen. Michael Cunniff also praised the efforts of the troops, from assisting with security at the Super Bowl to donating blood to providing transportation and logistical support at the Special Olympics this summer.
