A New Jersey man is charged with stealing government property from his job with the Homeland Security Department and selling it on eBay.
Steven Kucan of Wood-Ridge has worked for Immigration and Customs Enforcement since the 1990s. He's charged in a federal complaint with one count of theft of government property.
Authorities say Kucan sold about $37,000 worth of property between 2004 and 2011 that included combat lights for M-4 rifles and immersion suits designed to be worn in cold water.
Federal agents say they found another $40,000 worth of computers, printers, police batons, handcuffs, gun holsters and other items when they searched Kucan's residence in February.
The 47-year-old is scheduled to appear in federal court in Newark Tuesday afternoon.
