A stranger helped save a man who was shot five times in Philadelphia and then tried to drive himself to the hospital -- only to crash three blocks from the hospital, police said.
After the crash, which involved several cars, a good Samaritan stepped in to drive the man the rest of the way to the hospital.
After dropping the victim off, the stranger left, police said.

The shooting happened in West Philadelphia, in a rear driveway in the 700 block of North 46th Street.
The victim was trying to drive to the hospital when he crashed at 38th and Walnut, police said.
He is now in Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition.
Police are still searching for the gunman.
