Long lines greeted some people in our area Wednesday as they tried to get gas after Sandy.
That’s if they could actually find a station that was open.
“Most of the gas stations are down,” Kintnersville’s John Gruver told NBC10 after driving about 15 miles to Quakertown to get gas.
Breaking news and the stories that matter to your neighborhood.
Workers at the Wawa right off Route 309 at Tollgate Road say business hasn’t stopped since the Superstorm hit.
“It’s very tough to get gas around, here everything is packed,” said Quakertown’s Paul Lopez. “This is the only place giving gas because they have the generators hooked up.”
Other folks found fuel at the Giant Store at Routes 309 and 313 but it took a little while.
"I waited behind 24 people," Quakertown’s Deborah Nast said.
A large reason for the long lines and constant business is that many gas stations simply don't have power and can't pump gas meaning people can’t fuel their cars or generators.
“Precious material here… we do have some other gas stations but they’ve been running out,” said Quakertown’s Judy Schumauder after fueling up at the Giant.
