โ€˜Frontier' to Florida Expands, Again, From Delaware Airport

The โ€œFrontierโ€ for passengers is expanding, again, for passengers using an area airport.

A Tampa, Florida-bound Frontier Airlines flight takes off from Wilmington Airport Monday morning marking the return of service from the Delaware airport to the Florida destination. A flight from Tampa will also land in Delaware on Monday.

Previously, Frontier ended service to Tampa โ€” along with routes to four other locations โ€” leaving only Orlando service between Delaware and the Sunshine State.

โ€œWeโ€™re pleased that Frontier has resumed nonstop air service to Tampa, Florida,โ€ said airports director Stephen Williams of the Delaware River and Bay Authority.

Tampa service on 138-seat Airbus A319 aircraft will run two days a week (Monday and
Friday) through the end of April.

โ€œWeโ€™re looking forward to resuming seasonal service from Wilmington to Tampa providing local travelers a low fare option to two popular Florida destinations,โ€ said Frontier Airlines spokesman Todd Lehmacher.

The Colorado-based air carrier began operating from Wilmington last summer, ending a five-year period in which Delaware had no commercial air service.
