Do You Have Free Money Coming to You?

You could be owed money from your unclaimed property

Do you have unclaimed property? If so, there could be free money waiting for you to claim it.

The Pa. Treasury estimates one in 10 Pennsylvanians has unclaimed property.

State Treasurer Rob McCord will publish the unclaimed property owners in the newspapers across the region this week. The names will appear in the Reading Eagle, Bucks County Courier Times, Doylestown Intelligencer and Philadelphia Inquirer.

Each year, the department receives millions of dollars in unclaimed property -- things such as abandoned bank accounts, forgotten stocks, uncashed checks and contents of safe deposit boxes.

Last year the Treasury returned nearly $33.5 million in unclaimed property to rightful owners in Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia Counties.

If you believe you may be owed money in unclaimed property take a look to see if your name in your local newspaper this week. Or you can call the department at 1-800-222-2046, Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and the Treasury’s Return Team will be happy to assist you in recovering your property free of charge.

For Pennsylvania residents, if your name is not on either list claims can also be made online for free. Not in the Keystone State? For New Jersey residents / For Delaware residents
