A jury has convicted four Philadelphia men in the kidnapping of a man who was thrown into a van, beaten and repeatedly shot after winning thousands at SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia's Fishtown neighborhood.
Kevin Slaughter told authorities he drove Kylieff Brown to a gun and drugs deal in December 2013 and that a car pulled up and sprayed bullets at him.
Slaughter says he was tossed into a van, bound and driven to his home where his wife paid $2,000 ransom. He was then shot in the neck, legs and buttocks behind a school.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports a jury on Monday convicted Brown, Christopher Cooley, Timothy Gooden and Shaheed Smith. Cooley and Gooden were convicted of charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery and kidnapping.
It took six days for the jury to return a verdict in the case. Sentencing is scheduled for September.
