Former Trenton Cop Stabbed During Apt Fight

A Former Trenton Police Officer is in the hospital after being stabbed during a fight at his security job.
It happened Tuesday around 10:30 p.m. at the Kingsbury Towers in Trenton. Police say Mercer County Sheriff Officer William “Butch” Osterman was working his second job as a security guard at the apartment complex when a fight broke out.

The fight involved several men on an outdoor plaza, according to the Trentonian. Police say Osterman and another guard approached a rowdy group of men just before the attack. A scuffle then began in which Osterman was punched in the face, stabbed in the back and in the chest.

He was taken to the Trauma Center of Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he is currently in stable condition.

Police arrested two men and say they have leads on a third suspect connected to the attack, according to the Trentonian.

The Trentonian also reports that the attack occurred only hours after Trenton pulled police officers from street foot patrol posts after they received tips that gang members placed a hit on a foot post officer. Police did not say that these two incidents are related however.
