Former Sportscaster Accused of Fraud in Court for Preliminary Hearing

Don Tollefson, the well-known former Philadelphia sportscaster, appeared before a Pennsylvania judge on charges he stole money from sports fans in a fraud scheme.

Tollefson waived his preliminary hearing Thursday morning in a Bucks County courtroom. He will remain free until a formal Arraignment next week.

Tollefson allegedly funneled money he raised on behalf of charitable organizations into his bank accounts, prosecutors said. In all, the former FOX29 and 6ABC sports anchor, stole more than $100,000 from dozens of victims, according to prosecutors.

The 61-year-old was released from prison earlier this year to spend 30 days in a drug and alcohol treatment program.

Tollefson had requested a public defender represent him, citing money woes, but that request was rejected in May.
