A state appellate court has rejected an appeal by former state Rep. Bill DeWeese, who is serving prison time for a corruption conviction.
The decision by a three-judge panel of the Superior Court was made public on Friday.
The panel says the evidence clearly shows DeWeese stole more than $100,000 worth of the services of state employees for political purposes and that the trial judge didn't abuse his discretion.
DeWeese's lawyer, William Costopoulos, says he plans to appeal to the state Supreme Court.
DeWeese, a longtime House Democratic leader from Greene County who once served as speaker, is serving a 2 1/2- to five-year term at Retreat State Prison in northeastern Pennsylvania.
