Former College Theater Manager Faces 3 Years for Embezzlement

A former New Jersey college theater production manager who admitted stealing box office receipts has been sentenced to prison.

A judge sentenced Kathleen Peet to a three-year term on Friday.

Peet worked as production manager for the Music, Dance and Theater Department at New Jersey City University. She admitted stealing more than $87,000 between 2004 and 2013.

The 37-year-old Rochelle Park resident already has paid $34,000 in restitution and owes the remaining $53,000.

The university initially discovered that deposits made to the school's bursar didn't match box office receipts. A further investigation by the state Division of Criminal Justice revealed a total of $87,587 had been stolen.

Peet is permanently barred from public employment.
