The First Alert is in effect from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday in Philadelphia, the suburbs, South Jersey and Delaware. The Lehigh Valley and Berks County should also expect snowy conditions. Why? A fast-moving coastal storm will coat roads and sidewalks with 1 to 3 inches of snow through the evening rush.

As you can see, snow showers will begin to spread across the area by 1 p.m.

The biggest concern is that the system will cross the area during the busy Friday afternoon and early evening commute leaving snow on roadways and creating slippery roads with dangerous conditions in some places along and east of the I-95 corridor. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect.
