7 Firefighters Hurt in Tractor-Trailer Fire, Explosion on I-295

Five firefighters were hurt fighting a tractor-trailer fire and explosion on I-295 in Florence Township, Burlington County, New Jersey

Seven firefighters were hurt fighting a tractor-trailer fire and then explosion on I-295 in Burlington County, New Jersey, according to New Jersey State Police.

The truck carrying oranges, caught on fire in the southbound lane near the Mansfield exit.

Florence Township firefighter Brian Richardson, 33, was one of the first to arrive on the scene. He was hit in the head by one of the trailer doors, according to Florence Township fire chief Keith Scully. 

Richardson was flown to Capital Regional Medical Center in Trenton where he is in critical condition.

Five firefighters were treated and released from Lourdes hospital, another is in stable condition.
