Large Fight Breaks Out Outside Mummer's Clubhouse in South Philly

A fight between two men that began inside a Mummer's clubhouse in South Philadelphia early Saturday morning snowballed into a large brawl outside, police said.

The fight started inside 2nd Street Shooters Clubhouse on the 1400 block of South Front Street just after midnight. Witnesses say that two men were fighting, prompting security to force a large group of patrons on to the street.

While outside the club, an 18-year-old man had to have his head stapled after he was hit with an unknown object, police said. Another 18-year-old was knocked to the ground and hit his head on the concrete, while down, a 22-year-old man stepped on his stomach, according to officials.

A 19-year-old woman told police that a man hit her once above her lip, cutting her. She received stitches at Methodist Hospital.

Two other men were punched during the brawl and treated at Methodist, police said.

Only one person, the man who stepped on another man's stomach while he was on the ground, has been charged.

Police have not identified any of the people involved. An investigation is ongoing.
