Fewer students mean fewer employees at Drexel University.
The school has laid off "several dozen" administrative employees after a new admissions policy brought in fewer freshmen for the upcoming fall semester.
Senior vice president for university communications Lori Doyle tells The Philadelphia Inquirer the school knew it would have to cut administrative costs after it made the conscious decision to take a smaller class size to increase quality.
No faculty members were let go. But the layoffs and other cost-saving measures will save $18 million.
Little more than 2,900 students have committed to attend Drexel in the fall.
