Fewer Hotel Occupants Papal Weekend, But Revenue up 127 Percent

The results are in: Philadelphia hotels were nearly occupied during the papal weekend, and overall revenue was high despite lower-than-expected occupancy.

Hotel occupancy hit at least 80 percent from Friday through Sunday, Sept. 25-27, but Friday and Saturday's figures were slightly below last year's occupancy marks, according to recent data from hotel research firm STR.

Occupancy was at 87.5 percent on Friday, Sept. 25, showing a 6.3 percent decrease year over year.
