Steven Pate has shed plenty of tears since Friday night.
"You knew you hit a human being and you kept driving," he said, while in tears. "You didn't care."
Pate's daughter, 19-year-old Ceeanna Pate, died Wednesday afternoon. She was struck in a hit-and-run accident in the Hunting Park section of the city.
Pate was walking northbound on Clarissa Street in the bike lane around 11 p.m. on Friday when she was suddenly hit by a car that was passing by. Sparky Boggs, who lives near the scene of the crash, ran over to her after the car fled the scene.
"I went across the street to see how she was doing," Boggs said. "From what I could see she wasn't breathing."
Pate, who is a mother of two, was taken to Temple University Hospital where she is currently in critical condition after suffering severe brain damage.
Steven Pate says his daughter turned 19 just last month. He also says he was told by doctors that there was a strong possibility she wouldn't recover.
"It hurts me," Pate said, "It makes me angry. I feel rage. I want to see justice. I want to see justice for my daughter. I pray whoever did this that your conscience torments you."

Police say the striking vehicle may be a gray, Dodge Avenger captured on surveillance video.
Police are currently looking at the video to track down the suspect.
