Electric Pole Crash Leaves 2 Dead and Almost 70 Without Power

Police say two people are dead after a crash that brought down electrical poles and caused power outages in the area.

Police said in a statement that officers were called to a vehicle fire caused by the crash around 11 p.m. Wednesday on New Castle Avenue in Wilmington.

The News Journal reports that police say two people were killed in the single-vehicle crash.

Police warned motorists to use caution in the area and to use alternate routes if possible.

Delmarva Power's website reports about 70 customers without power in the area, but service is expected to be restored Thursday morning.

The crash is under investigation.
