Delaware Farmer's Market Sales Double Over Past 5 Years

Agriculture officials said sales at Delaware's farmers' markets have doubled in five years as interest in local food has grown.

Secretary of Agriculture Ed Kee said in a statement this week that sales from 27 community-run farmers' markets were $2.6 million this year. That's up more than $520,000 from 2013.

WBOC-TV reports that officials say fresh produce made up 59 percent of the total sales.

The 2015 market season will begin in April. A list is online at de.gov/buylocal.
