Facebook Helps Cops Catch Alleged Burglar

Police say the man responsible for burglarizing a couple's home was on their facebook contact list.

Newtown Township Police are crediting facebook with helping them nab an alleged burglar.

Back on September 29, police went to a home on Robin Road in Wrightstown Township after receiving a burglary report. Police learned that the homeowners were on vacation when they arrived. While a friend checking the house discovered an open door, police say nothing seemed out of place inside the home. They told their contact to have the homeowners call them when they arrived back from vacation.

The victims called police the next day, claiming several pieces of jewelry were stolen as well as gift cards, coins and nearly 120 DVDs.

Neighbors gave investigators a description and registration of a vehicle that was spotted in the neighborhood before the burglary took place. As police continued to investigate, they say they began to look through the facebook contacts of the victims.

This led them to Steve Pieczynski, 36, of Lambertville, NJ. On October 20, police executed a search warrant at his home and arrested him. Pieczynski was arraigned and sent to Bucks County Prison in lieu of bail.
