Grad Student Who Sued Over C+ Wants New Trial

The former Lehigh U. grad student who sued over a "bad" grade and lost, is now asking the judge to reconsider her decision or grant a new trial.

Megan Thode, 27, filed a $1.3 million lawsuit against her professor, Amanda Eckhardt, and Lehigh University after she said a C+ grade cost her a degree and career as a therapist.

Thode says Eckhardt gave her the "bad" grade as punishment for her support of gay rights.

On February 14, after several days of testimony, Northampton County Judge Emil Giordano ruled against Thode, claiming a failure to provide that her C+ was based on anything other than academics, according to The Morning Call.

In court Monday, the former student's attorney asked that Giordano reconsider her decision or grant his client a new trial.

A decision is pending.
