A former police cadet who became a dance instructor in Montgomery County is going to jail for having sex with a teenage student.
A judge on Wednesday sentenced 29-year-old Frank Laurenzi of Norristown to nine to 23 months behind bars.
Laurenzi pleaded guilty to statutory sexual assault and sexual abuse of children in November.
Prosecutors say he began giving the girl private ballroom dancing lessons when she was 14 and had sex with the child over the course of two years.
Laurenzi chose to pursue a career in dance after graduating near the top of his class from the police academy.
