Employee Wards Off Robbers By Chucking Newspapers

Delaware State Police say a doughnut shop employee thwarted a robbery by throwing newspapers at two men who tried to hold him up.

It happened about 7:15 p.m. Sunday at the Dunkin' Donuts on North DuPont Highway in New Castle. Troopers say two men, one armed with a handgun, confronted an employee and demanded money from the register.

Police say the employee refused to hand over money and began throwing newspapers at the robbers. The employee then ran to the back of the shop while the suspects fled.
