Coast Guard spokeswoman Ali Flockerzi said the family of the vessel's captain hired the team to search for the body.

Police earlier this week confirmed the sunken vessel found in the Sandy Hook Channel is a 40-foot fishing trawler called El Jefe that was reported missing this week.

Debris was found later in the day and the vessel's captain was reported missing.
