Dispute Between 2 Homeless Men Ends With Stabbing, Beating

Authorities said a dispute between two homeless men ended when one stabbed the other in the leg and hit him in the head with a bottle.

North Bergen police tell NJ.com  that the fight occurred around 3:30 a.m. Sunday, under a bridge that carries John F. Kennedy Boulevard East over a break in the Palisades cliffs. Both men lived under the bridge, and it's not known what they were arguing about.

Both men were taken to hospitals after the attack, but further details on their conditions were not disclosed.

Authorities said a 42-year-old man stabbed the 39-year-old victim, then hid at the bottom of a nearby cliff. Authorities eventually had to use ropes and a gurney to lift him to safety.

The investigation into the attack was ongoing.
