The Community Design Collaborative, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Philadelphia, and AIA Philadelphia will host a design charrette Friday to explore reuse strategies for two closed public schools.
"A charrette is a design brainstorming session," explained Heidi Segall Levy, director of design services with the Community Design Collaborative."It's a time for people from all different perspectives to come together and brainstorm innovative solutions."
Design professionals, private and nonprofit developers, city agencies and community members will generate ideas for the temporary and long-term reuse of two vacant buildings, the old Frances Willard School in Kensington and the M. Hall Stanton School in North Philadelphia.
The public presentation of their work will take place Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Center for Architecture, 1216 Arch St., following the full-day design charrette.
