Not Appearing to Be a Random Act: Police Investigate Death Near Delaware River

DA, police investigating death; search river from Pennsylvania side

A county prosecutor and others are investigating a death at an eastern Pennsylvania home that has also prompted crews to search the surrounding area and the nearby Delaware River.

Upper Makefield Township police confirm they were called to a home along River Road, near Macclesfield Park, Tuesday evening around 6 and found a body. That person's identity and cause of death have not been released.

The Bucks County district attorney, police and others — including a dive team from Trenton, New Jersey — joined the investigation.

Authorities haven't said why they're investigating or whether they're searching for a suspect. "But authorities stress that any suspected crime does not appear to be a random act," Upper Makefield police said.

Correction: The death investigation began Tuesday, not Wednesday.
