Music Teacher Hooked Up With Student at Hotels: Police

A Delaware music teacher was charged this week with having sex with a 16-year-old student.

The girl's mother went to police after she found intimate emails between her daughter and Joseph P. Tighe, 62, on a laptop, according to The News Journal.

The teacher and the teen were meeting at various hotels, according to the paper which also reported:

Tighe acknowledged having intercourse with the teen "four or five times at various hotels in Dover," police said in court records.

When the teen was interviewed, she told investigators that she had sexual intercourse with Tighe "six times at local hotel rooms in Dover including at the Hampton Inn and Days Inn."

Tighe was charged with eight counts of fourth-degree rape, one count of attempted fourth-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. He was suspending from his teaching duties at Dover HIgh School. Tighe was also a stringed instrument instructor at William Henry Middle School.
