A Delaware man described by federal prosecutors as a dangerous heroin trafficker will spend more than six years in prison.
A judge last week sentenced Raheem Ridley to 78 months in prison after Ridley pleaded guilty to with possession with intent to distribute 100 grams or more of heroin, conspiracy to distribute heroin, and illegal possession of a firearm by a felon.
Ridley and a co-defendant, Willie Brothers Jr., were indicted in March 2016.
Brothers also pleaded guilty and was sentenced in May to nine years in prison.
Prosecutors said Brothers and Ridley bought heroin in bulk then added fentanyl to it before packaging it for sale on the streets.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that has been linked to the sharp increase in heroin-related overdose deaths around the country.
