State lawmakers are taking initial legislative action on bills calling for early voting and same-day registration in Delaware.

One bill to be considered by a House committee Wednesday establishes in-person early voting in Delaware, starting on Jan. 1, 2022. The bill would allow registered voters to cast ballots at least 10 days before an election at locations determined by the state election commissioner.

Another bill up for discussion allows for same-day registration for primary, special and general elections.

The committee also will take up a bill passed by the Senate last week that would have Delaware join other states wanting to pool their Electoral College votes for the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote.
