It's the second time in less than a week that a pregnant woman has been the victim of violence

A pregnant Delaware woman was assaulted and choked by her boyfriend, who also threatened to kill her, police say.

The victim, 26, picked up Kevin Knight, from work late Sunday and the two got into an argument at their Christiana home, according to New Castle County police.

Knight pushed his girlfriend onto a bed, grabbed her by the neck and choked her to the point where she could hardly breathe, say police. Then he threatened to kill her, according to police.

The victim told police that she told Knight, at that point that their relationship was over. He pushed her into a wall, grabbed her by the neck again with such force he picked her up off the floor.

According to the release police put out:

After things calmed down, they fell asleep and when they woke early the next morning, Knight became mad at the victim once again and grabbed her by the neck and started choking her for the third time.

The pregnant victim was treated for injuries to her neck, face and head.

Knight, 21, was charged with assault, intentionally hurting a pregnant woman, strangulation and terroristic threats.
