A man was shot outside the PYT restaurant at the Piazza at Schmidt's in Northern Liberties just a few minutes after midnight Monday.
Police identified the victim as Maurice Kimble, 24, from Upper Darby, Pa. Authorities say he was shot twice in the chest and once in the groin. He was pronounced dead a few hours later at Hahnemann Hospital.
Police on the scene tell NBC10 an argument started inside the restaurant and then moved outside on Hancock Street, which is where the shooting occurred.
One resident of Northern Liberties told NBC10's Byron Scott she heard the gunshots while she was out walking her dog. "I just saw somebody on the ground with a bloody tee-shirt and there was a crowd around him attempting to resuscitate him," said Kelly Mulhern.
Police are searching for the alleged gunman. The alleged shooter was wearing a pink and gray T-shirt and with with another man and two women when he fled, according to investigators.
Investigators hope surveillance cameras in the area may have recorded the incident.
A car was also towed away from the scene as part of the investigation.
Originally it was reported that the gun used in the shooting was recovered near the scene but police say they haven't recovered the weapon.
